seleccionar una regi\u00f3n. Tanto nosotros como nuestros interesados confiaron en que esto dar\u00eda lugar a un mejoramiento general de la regi\u00f3n debido al establecimiento de un bosque de plantaciones sostenible. Los agricultores locales lo han utilizado para el pastoreo de unas pocas cabezas de ganado, pero debido a la falta de un sistema de gesti\u00f3n s\u00f3lido, est\u00e1n sufriendo, y la ganader\u00eda ha disminuido considerablemente. Los residentes intencionalmente establecer fuegos de c\u00e9sped incontrolados sobre vastas \u00e1reas para despejar los pastizales existentes y para fomentar el crecimiento de nueva hierba. Estas pr\u00e1cticas destructivas de quema degradaron a\u00fan m\u00e1s la tierra. La caza excesiva tambi\u00e9n estaba muy extendida.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><em><strong>FFC saw the potential to improve these lands through plantation forestry operations and effective land stewardship practices. To date, we have 16,151 planted hectares, representing 40% of our total area. Of the remainder, 12% is designated for future plantings, 21% is under study,<\/strong><strong><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>and 6% is set aside for infrastructure and other uses.<\/strong><\/em><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Management of these conservation areas provides FFC with the opportunity to protect the biodiversity of the region. Grasslands in this region are not under threat as the Llanos ecoregion roughly comprises an area of 570 000 km<sup>2<\/sup>, 3% de la superficie de Sur Am\u00e9rica. Sin embargo, la deforestaci\u00f3n es una preocupaci\u00f3n en el \u00e1rea del Amazonas y es reconocida como un generador de un impacto significativo en la biodiversidad en En la regi\u00f3n, las poblaciones ind\u00edgenas son migratorias y se trasladan regularmente por toda la zona. Los ind\u00edgenas no tienen una reivindicaci\u00f3n o relaci\u00f3n con la tierra en la que operamos.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>La investigaci\u00f3n revel\u00f3 que nuestras operaciones no afectar\u00edan negativamente a bienes culturales no replicables (por ejemplo, sitios arqueol\u00f3gicos, hist\u00f3ricos o religiosos), sitios con valores naturales \u00fanicos o patrimonio cultural inmaterial (por ejemplo, pr\u00e1cticas sociales, rituales y eventos festivos).<\/strong> Se identificaron y trazaron mapas de todos los sitios de importancia cultural para garantizar la protecci\u00f3n y el acceso antes de que comenzaran las operaciones. Estos sitios fueron registrados dentro del sistema GIS en nuestro software de manejo forestal, para asegurar que las operaciones no los afecten a corto o largo plazo. El 45% de la poblaci\u00f3n rural colombiana vive en la pobreza (19% vive en pobreza extrema). Colombia experiment\u00f3 53 a\u00f1os de conflicto civil, lo que ha dado lugar a desplazamientos y disminuci\u00f3n de las oportunidades de empleo. Esta regi\u00f3n no ha tenido previamente un marco legal, comercial o industrial para el empleo y ha subsistido en un ambiente informal.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>FFC presenta la primera empresa
